About Reiki

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

In the middle of the 19th century, Christian seminary principal Mikao Usui was asked by his students why they were not taught the method by which Jesus performed miracles of healing. Troubled by this request, Usui left his position at the seminary and begin a decades long quest that would lead him to believe even lay persons could practice the arts of energetic healing.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from God, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it.
While Reiki is not a religion, it is still important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others. Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing, recommended that one practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are nearly universal across all cultures.

Medical research has determined that habitual stress and toxicity not only inhibits the body's natural ability to repair, regenerate and protect itself, but actually creates an environment conducive to illness, infection and disease. Reiki restores energy balance and vitality by helping relieve the physical and emotional effects of unreleased stress and toxins. While stress is often caused by negative thoughts like fear, worry, sadness, anger, and guilt, Reiki energy actually promotes feelings of balance, joy and health.

REIKI is an ancient hands-on-healing technique that transmits the universal life-force energy known by many names: "Ki", "Chi", "Prana", "Light", or "Love Manifest."
In Reiki trainings, students receive "attunements" that transfer Reiki energy and Reiki symbols from the teacher into the energy field and hands of the student in order to open the flow of Reiki energy within the student. The student then learns how to give treatments to himself and others. Treatments are given with clothes on and are appropriate and effective to combine with hypnotherapy sessions.

Reiki is useful for stress reduction, physical, emotional, and spiritual healing and for pain management. The lineage of our Reiki trainings come from the Dr. Usui method.
Since Reiki is fun and easy to learn, anyone can attend these courses. Reiki I & II is recommended for anyone suffering from physical or emotional pain, healing arts practitioners, parents, pet-owners, and teenagers.

Students wishing to be certified as a Master Reiki Teacher may take the Reiki Master training after six months of practicing Reiki. Reiki Masters dedicate themselves to passing along Reiki to new practitioners and promote the healing of the planet and all its inhabitants. This program is useful for healing arts practitioners and those seeking to supplement their income and Reiki practice.
